Did you know that women hold just 5.4% of all CEO positions across American companies, with continued underrepresentation in tech — one of the fastest-growing professional occupations in the U.S.?
We want to flip the script on those statistics. That’s why we’re so passionate about our annual New Face of Tech Scholarship Program, in partnership with tech giant HARMAN, that funds and fuels the aspirations of talented female college students pursuing careers in tech; and is launching for a third year today!
At stake this year: 1DF will award all 15 winners $2,000 grants, career coaching sessions with HARMAN executives, and JBL products. Winners also will be featured online as representing the #NewFaceofTech.
What’s really amazing is that this year’s New Face of Tech program will honor more than twice as many promising, inspiring female students in pursuit of tech careers while connecting winners with potential job opportunities!
“This year, we’re doubling down on our pledge by not only awarding winners scholarships but also by pairing them with a mentor in their desired field, and by offering them the opportunity to interview for an internship at HARMAN. We believe that this type of direct access will generate a more diverse pool of candidates for STEAM professions and will, ultimately, drive stronger, more innovative leadership,” Dinesh C. Paliwal, President and CEO, HARMAN, said.
Women with career aspirations in STEAM fields can enter by submitting a photo that demonstrates how they represent the #NewFaceofTech along with a personal account describing how they plan to use the grant funding to achieve their goals.

The third annual New Face of Tech kicks off Thursday, November 7 and runs through Tuesday, December 12. We’ll be announcing three winners each week with the final three winners to be announced the week of December 16.
Winners will be selected based on the quality of their submission, including a demonstrated commitment to their career dream in tech and clear vision for how winning the New Face of Tech program will help to further accelerate progress towards their dream.
