It’s that time again — and we couldn’t be more excited to announce our Fall 2018 scholarship recipients. They represent a cross-section of impressive young women who are intent on making a positive impact on their communities and the world.
These 11 scholarship recipients were selected from a pool of more than 400 applicants, and they join fellow Spring 2018 winners with this honor.
Congrats to the following Fall 2018 recipients!
- Vivian A., from Claymont, DE
- Mirla D., from Kansas City, MO
- Makiya J., from Belton, MO
- AmyLyn K., from Anaconda, MT
- Cecilia K., from Valencia, CA
- Gloria K., from White, SD
- Mary N., from Enid, OK
- Lakin P., from Great Bend, KS
- A’Rya P., from Kansas City, MO
- Valeria S., from Kansas City, KS
- Eden Y., from Stockbridge, GA
Each recipient was evaluated and chosen by members of the 1DF Student Advisory Board which includes past scholarship winners. In addition to academic and personal achievements along with financial need, our scholarship winners demonstrate a desire to become positive agents of change in their community.
Each scholarship winner receives a micro-grant to fund outside-the-classroom extras that often go unaccounted for — such as conferences or educational programs related to their field of study and/or exam and application fees and textbooks.
“We know it doesn’t take a lot to make a big impact,” says 1DF founder and CEO Christie Garton. “We are thrilled to add 10 more talented and inspiring girls to our community by investing in their dreams so that they can continue to accomplish big things.”
If you or someone you know may be interested in the Spring 2019 1DF scholarships, applications are now open and will be accepted until April 30, 2019.
Congratulations again to our Fall 2018 scholarship recipients!
