Victoria Doman, better known as Vicksy to her followers, wants to be at the top of her game — literally and figuratively. The BroadcastHER Grant recipient dreams of being one of the best female streamers. And, she certainly has the passion to back it up. But, she also never loses sight of the fact that streaming should be fun and enjoyable, and she encourages other women in broadcasting to remember this — even in the face of challenges.

What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?

My dream is to be one of the best female streamers and to be an inspiration for others.

How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

It will help amazingly, as I would love to stream different games but my current PC does not allow me to do so — and it also lags a lot with low spec games. With the grant, I can finally give my audience a higher quality stream with less freezing.

What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?

It means the world to me, as I never ever thought that I would get this opportunity, and I thank 1,000 Dreams Fund again for this program.

Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?

They are underrepresented in gaming because there are less females in gaming in general. So, I think there needs to be female-related tournaments for players.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

People not taking me seriously, or judging what I do because I am female.

What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?

Don’t take any notice of people being rude in chat, and I would immediately ban them if what they said makes you upset. I’ve noticed people not banning trolls because they add an extra view to the view count, but it’s not worth it if you’re unhappy. Also, remember to stream for fun and because you enjoy it.

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

My aspiration to be one of the best female streamers keeps me motivated, and so does my amazing community, the Fox Family.
