Meet Velvetasmr (she/her).

What is your dream in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?

My ultimate dreams are to create meaningful stories through cinematography and my Supper Stories podcast as well as becoming a professional photographer who captures compelling images of people and artists at the highest level of creativity.

Please share how winning support from 1,000 Dreams Fund is important to your dream and what impact it will have on your career?

The support is such an incredible catalyst to my career. It will grant me the pivotal opportunity to network with members of the industry and other content creators — especially within the Twitch Women’s Guild. I’ll finally be able to thank the creators — in person — who have supported my growth as well as meet with other creators and brands regarding future collaborations and charity events!

What advice do you have for women & femmes who want to work in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?

My first piece of advice is to have the courage to believe that you can pursue your passions and carve out your own path from the narrative of what peers, loved ones, or communities have told you about what someone of your age or background should do.

Next is to truly realize that waiting for 100% certainty or the perfect conditions before making any kind of step will result in inaction. Inaction will then result in a painful life of regret as nothing is ever 100% certain. Instead, take baby steps each day towards your milestones. Be willing to experiment by taking reasonable risks in order to explore and learn. It will help you refine your individuality in the pursuit of your passions.

And finally, collaborating with other creatives in your community and uplifting each other will help you grow as a creator and as a strong, compassionate human being.
