@UnvisibleGirl, 30 – FUNDED
As an enby trans girl from the U.K., @UnvisibleGirl streams a variety of games aimed at the LGBTQIA+ Ccmmunity. The BroadcastHER Grant winner also occasionally codes and does other creative pursuits on stream.
What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?
I just want to work for myself and make things. I love to create and make people happy.
How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?
It will help me invest in new equipment to help improve my streams and online business with the goal of working for myself full-time.
What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?
It means people believe in me enough to invest in me and that is really nice.
Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?
We have to challenge misogyny everywhere we see it. We need to elevate more woman, especially those from diverse backgrounds. We need to celebrate every positive role model and every success story and we also need to help lift up those who are struggling.
What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?
I am trans and neurodiverse. I get bigots attacking me, and I’ve suffered a lot from anxiety in the past — so taking the first step in streaming took a long time. I also have not had the energy to do some of the things that would help me grow faster. However, I still move forward at my own speed.
What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?
Just do it; take the first step and see if you enjoy it.
How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?
As someone with ADHD, it is very, very hard for me to stay motivated and focused. I generally push forward for my community, but there are still a lot of things I want to do but just can’t push through at the moment. However, hopefully in the future, I can get treatment and will be able to do more.
