Meet Tyy_Rex (she/her).

What is your dream in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?

As a doctor-turned-Twitch streamer, my dream is to foster a community where mental health is just as important as gameplay and entertainment. Having walked away from medicine for my own mental health, I understand firsthand the importance of mental wellness and burnout prevention, which extends all the way from medical training and into the gaming/content creation space.

Most of all, I want everyone to know that it’s okay to pivot; to change your mind and your circumstances at any time if your current situation isn’t working. That it’s okay to prioritize yourself and your wellbeing over the expectations of others. By sharing my journey and experiences, I hope to inspire others to prioritize their mental health and to break down the stigma surrounding mental illness in the gaming space and beyond.

Ultimately, my dream is to leverage streaming, gaming, and content creation as tools for positive mental health, creating a community where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to be their most authentic selves!

Please share how winning support from 1,000 Dreams Fund is important to your dream and what impact it will have on your career?

This is incredibly significant to my journey as a Twitch streamer, as it will allow me to attend TwitchCon San Diego this year. It’s a chance to network with other female streamers, gain insights into the streaming space overall, and strengthen my connections within the gaming and streaming community. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to the growth and impact it will bring to my career and dreams!

What advice do you have for women & femmes who want to work in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?

As someone who transitioned from medicine to content creation in gaming and esports, I feel I have a unique perspective on pursuing unconventional career paths. My advice for women and femmes who aspire to work in gaming, esports, or content creation is rooted in my own journey and the challenges I’ve overcome:

Believe in Yourself: Trust your abilities and passions. It’s easy to doubt yourself when entering a male-dominated industry, but remember that your voice and perspective matter.

Build a Support Network: Surround yourself with mentors, peers, and communities that uplift and encourage you.

Embrace Your Unique Voice: Don’t feel pressured to conform to stereotypes or expectations. Your authenticity is your strength!

Prioritize Mental Health: Take breaks, practice self-care, and don’t hesitate to seek support when needed. Your well-being is extremely important and you cannot help others if you don’t help yourself first!

Celebrate Your Achievements: Recognize and celebrate your milestones, no matter how big or small they may seem!
