@TopazTvee, 29 – Funded
Variety streamer @TopazTvee goes by Topes or T. for short and favors Apex Legends and sports/squad games. But whether she’s providing tips and tricks in FPSs or laughing at her own flubs, there’s never a dull moment with her, says this JBL Quantum Grant winner.
What is your dream in gaming and/or esports?
I am leaning toward being more interested in the technical and production side of esports, but I do still have an interest in community management.
How will this award from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?
This award will allow me to travel as I have plans to attend more conventions and esports-related events in 2023! I will also invest in a new mixer and microphone stand for my setup!
What does being a 1,000 Dreams Fund – JBL Quantum Grant recipient mean to you?
It means everything to me and will further assist me in being able to reach attainable goals in esports. I am very thankful and grateful!
Women are underrepresented in gaming and esports. What can we do to change this?
Companies need to actively seek and include women in all aspects of esports. We are seeing this currently and, although it will take time, change is happening and visible. We have to actively condemn sexist behavior in the industry as well as send a message that negative behavior will not be tolerated or accepted.
What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?
I am still new and doing what I can to teach myself the ropes of the industry. I am also wanting to start seeking jobs in the esports industry but not having much experience may also be a challenge.
What advice do you have for women who want to work in the gaming or esports industry?
Just keep going! Shoot your shot everywhere and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone.
How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?
I remember that, one day, I will live better and do better if I just follow my dreams and stay on the positive track. I also surround myself with amazing professionals and people in general.
