What is your dream in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?

My dream is to get talented, marginalized creators paid for the amazing hard work that they do.

Please share how winning support from 1,000 Dreams Fund is important to your dream and what impact it will have on your career?

Winning this support opened a door for me to attend the 10th anniversary of TwitchCon. Twitch is the best place for content creators, streamers, and gamers alike. It fosters that public square that most social media platforms seek to create. It allows and encourages self-expression and creativity, all while remaining a place where everyone and everyone is allowed to be themselves and is protected from those who seek harm. And as a femme-presenting creator, that last part is extremely important.

It is no secret that Twitch is currently not in the best financial position and that scares me. Like me, Twitch has been a very therapeutic safe space for a lot of people to create and game freely with others like them. Losing that space would be detrimental to creativity not just for femme-presenting people, but for everyone. I’m not sure my plan will work. All I have is an idea. But I think it’s a good idea. I think it’s an idea worth trying and thanks to this grant, I can try.

What advice do you have for women & femmes who want to work in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?

Whatever it is that you want to do — whatever you dream up, no matter how outrageous it may seem — try it. Do it scared. If it doesn’t work, that’s okay, because you will learn how to make it work when you try again. And don’t ever be afraid to ask for help. More people than you think are willing to help you achieve your dreams. Like me!
