Meet Tanisha B., a Paliwal Club of 100 STEAM Scholar who is studying Industrial Design at the University of Illinois, Chicago.

What is your dream?

My dream is to inspire others, showing that no matter your background, it is possible to pursue a career in design. I strive to create inclusive designs that highlight underrepresented communities and bring their stories and perspectives to the forefront of the design field.

Please share how you feel about the win and what impact it will have on your career.

I am truly honored to be one of the 10 recipients. This support means so much to me as it helps cover the costs of the design conference, Square One, I recently attended, where I had the invaluable opportunity to network with working design professionals. It also enables me to continue pushing forward with my thesis project.

What advice do you have for other women reaching for their dreams?

Never stop believing in yourself. Challenges will come, but remember that there’s always a way forward. Stay determined, seek support, and trust in your own abilities to overcome whatever obstacle.
