@SuggaBearsClub, 38 – Funded

Variety streamer @SuggaBearsClub is dedicated to “making people like they are somebody special.” This BroadcastHER Grant winner believes it’s important for everyone to take the time to celebrate themselves and their unique qualities.

What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?

I would like to co-broadcast events and be a spokesperson for women who battle with health issues and mental illness. I also want to help people who want to start streaming with tips and advice.

How will your award from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

It gives me that cushion I was needing to show people my personality and improve my content and get co-broadcasting opportunities.

What does being a recipient mean to you?

Being a recipient means so much to me. To be acknowledged as a women streamer/content creator is a blessing in itself. I finally feel like I belong somewhere. The door I was knocking on opened up. I see all my hard work is paying off. My ideals and goals can start to take shape and hopefully be completed. This announcement made my frown that day turn into a smile with happy tears. Thank you so much!!!

Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and esports. What can we do to change this?

Do more esports events just for women and highlight more women who are considered small streamers.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

I think about all that I have suffered through along the way, including emotional and physical abuse and a lot of health problems. And I finally feel like I’m proud of myself and all that I have accomplished and will accomplish with the help of a great community.

What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?

Be yourself. Do what you’re comfortable with, and remember you are somebody. Have fun!

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

What keeps me going everyday is remembering these words: “Do What You Love, You Are Somebody Special.”
