Meet SlayWithBrandy (she/her), a BroadcastHER Grant winner.

What is your dream in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?

My dream ultimately is to create a safe and welcoming space where people feel comfortable being their most authentic selves. I absolutely love that I am able to carve out my own little space on the internet where I can be exactly who I want to be, while also feeling valid and accepted within a workspace.

My previous jobs never really allowed for me to be myself through and through — and within the content creation space, I finally have the opportunity to express myself and have my confidence shine through. I hope to be able to continue content creation full time as long as I possibly can with the hopes of setting not only myself up for the future, but also being able to support my family by working in an industry that I love so much.

Please share how winning support from 1,000 Dreams Fund is important to your dream and what impact it will have on your career?

It’s incredibly important because it’s helping me achieve my goals in continuing to pursue content creation full time! This support is helping me attend TwitchCon, which is so incredibly crucial as a creator. Attending in-person events helps me to put myself out there to meet other creators and network with companies, which further sets me up for future opportunities. It pushes me to strive for more from myself and to know there are no limits in this field when you put your mind to something.

What advice do you have for women & femmes who want to work in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?

My advice to women and femmes is to always push yourself and always want more from yourself. The only person who can hold you back is you, so don’t listen to those negative voices. We are carving a path for ourselves in the gaming and content creation industry and the only way to keep pushing for more is to uplift one another in our goals and aspirations. Never stop believing in yourself and know that there are no limits except for the ones we place on ourselves.
