@SHDWLeX, 30 – FUNDED
@SHDWLeX — Lexie — is Hungarian and you will find her manly streaming EFT and Valorant. This BroadcastHER Grant winner is also a gamer for DeltaProjectGG and is a CCSW champion and GIF Women’s Cup winner and MVP!
What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?
I want to have a community that is accepting and kind.
How will your award from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?
I’m going to spend the money on a new CPU, motherboard, and microphone. My current PC is barely able to run some games, so when I stream, I really struggle with FPS. The grant will help me so much to make upgrades so I can enjoy the games more and create quality broadcasts.
What does being a recipient mean to you?
I still can’t believe I was actually chosen! It’s really a dream come true! It would take me months to have this kind of money to spend on my PC; it is a huge help. Also, as a small streamer, I feel believed in!
Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?
We need more female tournaments, and we need the men in e-sports to stand up against bullies, call them out, and let everyone know it’s not okay to treat women poorly and that it won’t be tolerated.
What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?
Everyday sexism and toxicity. For example, I can’t use my mic in-game because, as soon as I do, people start throwing insults or throwing the game.
What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?
Just do it! Don’t let anyone discourage you from doing what you love and don’t be afraid to try new things! If someone comes to your chat just to be toxic, ban them right away. People love to “troll” and say it’s “just a joke.” But, no, it’s not and you shouldn’t have to spend even a minute on those people.
How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?
I know that I just have to keep pushing until I see that finish line. I like to set up smaller goals to take it step by step.
