@SadieStreams, 22 – FUNDED

Variety streamer @SadieStreams loves to focus on community involvement. When the BroadcastHER Grant winner is not streaming, she spends time as a leather worker and runs her own leather shop — or she might be riding motorcycles, singing, and/or obsessing over tea.

What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?

I want to become a partnered streamer on Twitch — via Makers & Crafting — and encourage others to pursue crafts.

How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

It will allow me to upgrade my stream setup in my workshop to offer higher quality content.

What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?

I’m extremely grateful for this wonderful opportunity. What this organization does is truly amazing and I’m honored to be a part of it.

Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?

We can continue encouraging other women to pursue these paths and continually lift each other up. Stand strong and make men accept that this is our space, too.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

The biggest challenge in the beginning was finding a community that I could grow and thrive in, and I found that in the crafter community. I also struggled a lot with feelings of not being good enough and was focusing too hard on numbers. I still do, but I try my best to stay positive and continue to improve my content.

What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?

Don’t let other people bring you down; have good mods to shut down any trolls; broadcast what you enjoy; and don’t be too hard on yourself about numbers.

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

I have a schedule to help me stay on track. I also have a wonderful community that I am proud of. They remind me every day why I broadcast.
