Meet Regina Arriola (she/her), a 1,000 Dreams Fund Scholarship winner who is studying bioengineering at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

What is your dream?

My dream is to become a leader in STEM. I want to find a career in engineering that allows me to incorporate my passions for creation and forming connections with people. I want to reach my full potential as a woman in STEM by continuously pushing myself out of my comfort zone and seizing as many opportunities as I can.

I hope to show other Filipina-American girls who want to pursue engineering that they are fully capable.

I am very proud of myself for winning this scholarship. It will give me the opportunity to delve deeper into professional opportunities that may open up career paths for me, getting me closer to making my dream a reality.

​What advice do you have for other young women who are wanting to pursue their dreams?

Surround yourself with people who inspire you to be better. Recognize the power that exists in meaningful relationships. Tell yourself the kind of person you want to be and come up with a plan to become that person. You are a force to be reckoned with.
