@Radical618, 30 – FUNDED

“Streaming has always been about community for me,” says @Radical618. “I enjoy engaging with people of similar mind.” Here’s what else this BroadcastHER Grant winner has to say!

What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?

I want to connect likeminded individuals to promote a healthy and fun content creation environment.

How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

It will go towards preserving and enhancing my experience with my community — from making connections at conventions to producing better quality content to reach more audiences.

What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?

It means I can continue to be a liaison for connecting good people to other good people. Community and connections are what content creation is all about; BroadcastHER provides more avenues to pursue togetherness.

Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?

By normalizing the presence of women across the world of gaming, we will continue to become a static part of it. Seeing an abundance of women in each aspect of gaming and content creation will allow women of all ages to feel comfortable connecting with their interests and identities as gamers, broadcasters, e-sports participants, and more.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

The three main challenges I’ve experienced are networking, direction, and production value. I always had a general sense of what I wanted my content to achieve, but I didn’t always have the means to achieve it. As I continued to pursue content creation and find my direction, the other aspects I was struggling with fell into place. There is always room for continued growth, though!

What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?

Be yourself. People will support you because of who you are, not what you think they want you to be. Find your style, hone it, and go. People will connect with you and will love your content because of your individuality. All the other stuff (production quality, a schedule, etc.) will come in time.

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

I always strive for continuity and holding myself accountable for my own success. I have a vision for what I want my content to be as well as how I want it to be delivered to my community. Only I can ensure that I’m reaching these goals; it’s my responsibility to maintain a level of content creation and community that I’m proud of.
