Rachel Foye, 19 – FUNDED

Rachel Foye has experienced firsthand what it’s like to be one of the only women in the room, so knows how important it is to continue to provide encouragement in the STEAM fields. “Facilitating open conversations between young women and their role models is essential to boosting the confidence of women entering STEAM,” says this Paliwal Club of 100 STEAM Scholar who is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Data Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
What is your professional dream?
My professional dream is to combine my passions for the environment and data analysis to promote sustainable decision-making in business.
What does being in the Paliwal Club of 100 mean to you?
I am honored to be a part of a group of inspiring, young women with a passion for learning, supporting one another, and advocating for positive change.
Women are underrepresented in the S.T.E.A.M. (science, tech, arts or math) fields and music industry. How can we change this?
We can prioritize the formation of more support networks. Mentorship programs and professional development opportunities can help empower young women as they navigate their education and begin their careers.
What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?
As a minority in the tech industry, I have struggled with imposter syndrome and self-doubt throughout my educational career. Often, I am singled out for being one of few women in a room, which can be intimidating.
How will this grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?
This grant will help to offset education expenses, including the additional cost of my upcoming opportunity to study abroad. I would like to thank 1,000 Dreams Fund for their generosity and dedication to helping women achieve their goals.
