Meet Perras R. (she/her), a Colgate-Palmolive Scholar who is studying veterinary medicine at Long Island University.

What is your dream?

My dream is to become a veterinarian who fosters a cycle of mentorship and compassion. I want to support the next generation of students the same way others supported me — by creating a space where learning, kindness, and curiosity are valued. This scholarship will help me continue my education and strengthen the impact I can have on my community, my future patients, and the people who care for them.

Winning this scholarship means more than financial support — it represents validation of a long, challenging journey toward becoming a veterinarian. It directly supports my ability to continue pursuing a career dedicated to improving animal health and supporting the people who love them.

What advice do you have for other women reaching for their dreams?

Don’t wait to feel ready — growth comes from showing up anyway. Trust your resilience, ask for support when you need it, and remember that your path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s to be meaningful.
