@oryengaming, 30 – FUNDED
You can find Janeé who goes by Oryen — pronounced like “Orion”— on Twitch as @oryengaming where she’s a variety broadcaster who plays anything from Just Dance to FPS, horror, art, and more. The BroadcastHER Grant winner’s main focus is having a positive stream with a community who can joke around with each other and just have a good time.
What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?
My dream is to make it as a full-time creator while being able to stream the content I enjoy.
How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?
The grant will help upgrade my setup, allowing for a smoother streaming process.
What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?
I’m honored that BroadcastHER believed in my stream to the point of helping me push forward.
Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?
Normalize women playing video games, and continue to bring it to the light.
What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?
Toxicity — as a woman on the internet and playing games. It is also challenging to stream while working full-time hours.
What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?
Just jump into it. You will get a lot of toxicity for being a female, so make sure you surround yourself with mods you can trust. Shut down the trolls and brush off what they say.
How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?
I love streaming, so it’s something I want to work for. It can get hard but the people you meet along the way make it easier to continue on.
