Artist @NsomniaksDream works in graphite, colored pencils, body painting, SFX makeup, sculpting, molding, and resin casting. Yes! All of those. In addition to her Twitch channel, this BroadcastHER Grant winner has a YouTube channel full of fantasy and SFX makeup tutorials as well as DIY prop builds that come from her love of cosplay and crafting.

What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?

My dream is to share the world of special effects and prop building on Twitch.

How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

The grant will be going towards materials and equipment needed to start my Dream Prop Shop. It will help with the products needed to create advanced props and prosthetics, such as life-casting chemicals, sculpting tools, silicone, and paints to bring it all to life.

What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?

I feel very honored and grateful to have others hear my dreams and want to see them come to life. I hope to do the grant proud and create many new things to share with my community.

Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?

Supporting and hyping up fellow women streamers is one of the best ways. Talking about and showcasing other women’s talents and passions will give their content visibility and help grow the community as a whole.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

There is a lot a self-doubt along the way. It can be hard questioning your skills, desires, and ability to succeed in such a niche industry. But if you remind yourself why you are pursuing what you love, and how worth it that finish line can be to reach, then you will persevere and excel.

What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?

Give it a try 100%. It can be daunting and frustrating but if you focus on what you enjoy and share your passion with your community, they will feel that excitement and return it tenfold. Love what you do, pursue it relentlessly, and share that dedication with others!

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

Endless “to do” lists! I rewrite my goals almost daily and break them down into manageable tasks. Focus on things you can control — because things like viewership and social media numbers are sadly not within your control. But the effort and joy you put into your work is. Be proud of what you are creating and celebrate the small steps because they lead to bigger things.
