@Noobina, 35 – FUNDED

@Noobina will tell you she has been gaming since she could hold a controller! And, yes, Super Mario games were her favorite on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The BroadcastHER Grant winner started PC games when she was 13, playing MMOs (massively multiplayer online games) with her family. Now, she streams games including indies, puzzles, RPGs, and occasionally Shooters — but she is up for anything with a good story or challenge.

What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?

My dream is to foster a friendly and fun community, raise money for charity, and pay it forward.

How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

It will allow me to get a desk that will keep me comfortable and able to stream for longer periods of time. The fund will also be used on much-needed upgrades and to help me get to upcoming conventions when it’s safe again. Being able to connect with companies and other creators in person is so invaluable!

What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?

It means so much! I honestly can’t even express it. It’s easy to slip into the mindset that, because you aren’t hitting certain numbers, you aren’t good enough. Receiving this grant gave me the much-needed boost in confidence.

Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?

Support, guide, and elevate each other. Showcase women in the industry and have more events that focus on empowering women and networking. What 1DF is doing by funding and mentoring is also amazing!

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

Honestly, one of my biggest hurdles has been myself. In the past, I have lacked the confidence to take chances or let loose. Last year, I decided to change this. I applied for so many new opportunities, including this one!

What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?

Do it! Jump in and don’t get bogged down by all of the noise that comes with being a broadcaster. Be genuine and have fun, because people will know when you aren’t. Ask for help; try new things; and apply for all of the opportunities you can — even if you don’t think you will get it. You are worth it and people want you to share your story.

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

My community keeps me going. One of my favorite days recently was having a fun stream talking about ridiculous things and then watching a movie in Discord. I got into streaming to make connections with people, to feel less alone, and to help others feel less alone.
