Meet Nicole L. (she/her), a New Face of Tech winner who is pursuing a Master of Library and Information Science degree at San Jose State University.

What is your dream?

My dream is to leverage technology to make information more accessible and impactful for communities, particularly in academic settings. I aspire to work as a Systems and Data Management Librarian in an academic library, where I can blend my technical expertise with my passion for improving access to information.

Please share how you feel about the win and what impact it will have on your career.

This win is a reminder that hard work and determination lead to opportunity. It will not only help me finish my education more quickly but also set an example for my kids that perseverance and passion can open doors, no matter the obstacles we face.

What advice do you have for other women reaching for their dreams?

Question the limits that society and gender norms try to impose on you. Don’t let anyone discount your abilities or tell you that you don’t belong — especially in spaces where women are underrepresented. Trust in your own power, keep pushing forward, and don’t be afraid to take up space.

Remember that your voice, perspective, and skills matter, and the world needs women who challenge the status quo. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, and never let anyone make you feel less than what you are: capable, brilliant, and deserving of success.
