Myshela Todd, 18 – FUNDED

As a Paliwal Club of 100 STEAM Scholars Fund winner and a freshman at Dixie State University in Utah, Myshela Todd is focusing on a Biology major — with a natural emphasis — to serve her goal of becoming a wildlife biologist.

What is your professional dream?

I want to be a wildlife biologist.

What does being in the Paliwal Club of 100 mean to you?

The Paliwal Club of 100 means that I can pursue a life I have always dreamt of — being able to get into a competitive career that allows me to help others!

Women are underrepresented in the S.T.E.A.M. (science, tech, arts or math) fields and music industry. How can we change this?

Empowering women to achieve success in a male-dominated field can help encourage future generations to pursue their desired career paths.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

I have struggled with my self-confidence for a long while, always second-guessing myself. However, as I began to grow up, I realized that I know more than I thought and that I am valid.

How will this grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

It will allow me to deepen my skills in my intended career field as well as compete with others for prospective jobs in the future.
