@MsPinky313, 36 – Funded

Ever since Super Mario World on Super Nintendo, @MsPinky313 has had a love for video games. Now, she’s a gaming content creator and influencer — not to mention the executive producer of “Red Cups and Games” and the co-host of the RealOnesGaming Network podcast. This JBL Quantum Grant winner always makes sure to bring love and light into her live streams; she wants to be a positive force in this space.

What is your dream in gaming and/or esports?

My dream goal is to be a well-known producer of gaming-related shows and to become a branding consultant in the gaming space under my production company, TMMP (Talented Ms. Mitchell Productions). I’ve created my own shows called “Red Cups and Games” that’s in its second season and “Blkcraft” which is in its first season.

How will this award from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

It will help me fund a video editor to help with production and create quality content that everyone can enjoy!

What does being a 1,000 Dreams Fund – JBL Quantum Grant recipient mean to you?

It means that my dreams will become successful goals that I can accomplish in my career!

Women are underrepresented in gaming and esports. What can we do to change this?

We can change this by creating more opportunities like this grant and by creating more jobs in these spaces. There are so many great and talented women and femmes! We’re out here; we just have to grab each other and put us in these spaces.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

There are three main categories of challenges I’ve faced.

Finances: Not having the funds to be able to create the type of content and projects that I want to display to the world.

Visibility: Not having visibility from those who are interested in my content and are willing to take a chance on me. I’ve learned to maneuver around in this space to find those who are, but I must work harder. I’m almost there.

Time: As a mother and a wife with a career, I only have so much time in a day. Having a video editor to help free up some of my time would greatly help me and my projects. As a full-time creator who is relying on paid projects, I have to budget properly and it can all be a strain on production.

What advice do you have for women who want to work in the gaming or esports industry?

Some tips that I always share…

  1. Do it! Go for it! Don’t let anyone or anything stop you!
  2. Follow your first mind, always.
  3. Don’t be afraid try something new. I call it the “for science” method. Don’t be afraid to try something new with your content or job. Uniqueness always wins!

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

My children and my husband keep me motivated. They push me and are proud of everything that I do! I do pray and meditate often, as well; it helps with mental stress. And I go with my favorite saying: “Trust the process.”
