@Mollyzxgames, 23 – FUNDED
Being different makes all the difference for @Mollzyxgames. The England-based BroadcastHER Grant recipient marches to the beat of her own drum and wants to inspire other girls to do the same by embracing their unique individuality and going against the grain. Here’s what else this self-proclaimed “nerd” and lover of all things DC and Marvel had to say.
What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?
My dream is to eventually go full-time with Twitch streaming. I want to be able to do what I love for work — and to inspire other female streamers to push themselves to stream, too, and go against the norm.
How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?
I currently stream through my PS4 and camera only. So, the money will be saved for a new PC. A PC is vital for streaming because it has the best quality for keeping up to date and staying relevant in the community
What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?
The world! I feel super-lucky and happy. I can’t even tell you how thankful I am because I’m probably not a typical female streamer, but I’ve still been recognized for my work and dedication.
Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?
We need to work harder to push positivity for female streamers.
What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?
I am just a normal female who streams in a hoodie with no makeup on; I’m doing something I love while having fun. Unfortunately, a lot of female streamers are known for their image as opposed to their game-play and personality. As one of the females who refuses to use my assets to my advantage, the journey is much slower in terms of growth.
What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?
Don’t give up. Don’t pretend to be something you not. If it’s not fun, stop. And, grind to death!
How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?
I love how my community of followers keeps me up to date with the things in their lives and tells me how I help them. I’ve never felt so proud.
