@MissMarieR6, 25 – FUNDED

Hailing from The Netherlands, Marie — @MissMarieR6 on Twitch — recently graduated with a degree in graphic design. She is a R6S (Rainbow Six Siege) player and content creator with a big passion for gaming and you can see her gun in CCSW, Benelux League, and OPL! “I come equipped with a lot of passion, enthusiasm, and positivity,” says this BroadcastHER Grant winner. “My main goal is to entertain and I aim to make sure everyone is included!”

What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?

I want to create a big, safe space and inspire others to chase their dreams, too.

How will your award from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

I will go to Canada to my first-ever gaming event. I would never be able to go there by myself due to finances. The event will allow me to network and meet more people — and hopefully reach more goals!

What does being a recipient mean to you?

It’s about being seen and heard. What 1DF does is make you feel like you matter. And that is so important, because we already have to fight extra-hard to be heard — just because we’re women.

Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?

Invest more in opportunities like female-only tournaments while giving other women the option for positions that men normally would be in. This way, we will normalize women in gaming! If we all stand together, we can make that change.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

So many haha. Being the only woman in my region for competitive Rainbow Six Siege, I always have to fight a little extra than a normal guy would. There will always be setbacks, but it’s all about how you deal with them.

What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?

You decide how far you want to go. We all started at 0, but anything is possible and, YES, you CAN make your stream dream come true! All it takes is passion and dedication! Your mindset is absolutely everything!

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

I have big goals, but every week and month, I will make small goals that seem to be easier to achieve. This way I can slowly but steadily work my way toward my big goals.
