@meowmiks, 24 – FUNDED

Rhythm game fanatic @meowmiks loves Just Dance and Beat Saber. If you’re familiar with the Myers-Briggs personality profiles, this BroadcastHER Grant winner is an INFP-T.

What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?

I want to create high-quality content that anyone can enjoy and use to escape from IRL stuff

How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

I will be able to get a new graphics card and therefore be able to stream other games.

What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?

It makes me feel like all the hard work that I have put into streaming is worth it and makes me feel recognized as a female streamer.

Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?

Support and showcase amazing women in these categories!

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

When I used to stream Dead by Daylight, I would get a ton of harassment just from being a female gamer. I feel like being a woman in what is seen as a male-dominant industry is super-challenging because we tend to get judged very harshly on our appearance — regardless of our gaming skills. And, if we are good at games, we get called cheaters and accused of being carried.

What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?

Just do it. It’s the same advice I give to anyone who wants to stream. Just stop making excuses and do it. To a woman, I’d also say try and make friends with other female streamers — even before you start streaming yourself, so that you can have a little bit of an audience when you start.

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

I bullet journal and it really helps me stay on track for what I need to do. I break down my goals into smaller tasks that are more manageable.
