Madison R., 16 – Funded
With her entrepreneurial spirit, Madison R. wants to work in business or start her own company. But, for now, the Girl on the Rise — who is a junior at MCPSS Academy of Virtual Learning — is starting to look at colleges like University of South Alabama and Louisiana State University.
What is something you are most proud of?
I’m proud about my family.
What does it mean to you to be selected as a Girl on the Rise?
School was the most challenging part because of bullying. But, I talked to my parents and they helped me resolve it.
What inspired you to want to be involved with Girls on the Rise?
I was inspired because this program will help me with school tours, test prep, and my ACT test. And with these things, I will feel more equipped to choose what school I truly want to go to.
How will funding from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals? In other words: Why is the opportunity to visit your prospective colleges important to your journey?
It will help me get a tutor as well as tour schools to help me choose what is the best choice for me.
What schools will you use the funding to visit, and why?
I’m considering University of South Alabama, Louisiana State University, and Faulkner University because I have always wanted to see these schools and learn what they’re all about.
