@lindsies, 20 – FUNDED
University student and variety streamer @lindsies streams nearly every day, where she loves handing out and chatting with her lovely community, playing games, and nerding out over Harry Potter. The BroadcastHER Grant winner has cultivated a community that is all about inclusivity and building each other up.
What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?
My dream is to create spaces where women feel empowered and important in the gaming industry.
How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?
This grant will help elevate my content so I can focus on building my community and finishing up school.
What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?
This grant has given me the confidence to go after what I want when it comes to the gaming industry and a career as a broadcaster.
Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?
Supporting each other is important. Through community, we can empower one another, share experiences and opportunities, and create change.
What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?
The biggest challenge has been comparing myself to other content creators. Everyone’s timeline looks different when it comes to streaming, and that’s okay! My confidence as a streamer has definitely grown over the last two years, but I still have a long road ahead of me.
What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?
Just start! There are so many resources online such as articles and discord servers full of advice and people to help you achieve your goals.
How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?
While there are many things I hope to achieve this year and long-term, I constantly remind myself what a supportive and loving community I have already created. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the next thing, but staying present and in the moment is so important.
