Meet katkashiii (she/her).
What is your dream in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?
My mission is to empower femme gamers to feel great and celebrated, despite the prejudice women face in the gaming industry. This is why I co-founded GLOW (The Gaming League of Women), a Discord server with over 1.5K members dedicated to being a safe space for femme content creators and gamers. I aim to grow GLOW into an organization that helps femme gamers feel seen and heard, providing resources and connections to help them flourish.
Art and fashion have been a creative outlet that has helped me feel more confident and express myself. They allow me to explore different facets of my personality and share my unique vision with the world. I am passionate about encouraging others to find their own creative outlets, whether through art, fashion, or any other medium that resonates with them.
Expressing myself through art and fashion has also helped me build a community of like-minded individuals who support and uplift each other. By combining my passion for gaming, art, and fashion, I aspire to make a positive impact on the gaming community and beyond. I am dedicated to advocating for inclusivity, creativity, and support for all femme gamers. I look forward to seeing GLOW and its members thrive, and I am excited about the future we are building together. My ultimate goal is to create a world where everyone feels empowered to be their true selves, both online and offline.
Please share how winning support from 1,000 Dreams Fund is important to your dream and what impact it will have on your career?
I am currently working in the service industry to pay off my student loan debt. This means I have to work more hours and stream less, taking time away from what I truly love. Receiving this funding gives me the chance to connect with other recipients, members of the Twitch Women’s Guild, and members of GLOW (Gaming League of Women). This would enhance my networking opportunities and help me build friendships within the gaming community. It’s crucial for women streamers to support each other in a predominantly male-dominated industry.
Attending workshops at TwitchCon will empower me with valuable resources and insights from seasoned creators, helping me to enhance my skills and reignite my passion for streaming. These workshops will provide practical tips on content creation, community building, and personal branding, which are crucial for success in the streaming world.
I will not only be investing in my future but also contributing to the broader goal of increasing female representation in the gaming industry. This opportunity enables me to be a role model for other aspiring women streamers, showing them that it is possible to overcome challenges and succeed in this field.
What advice do you have for women & femmes who want to work in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?
It’s easy to look at those in the gaming industry and feel discouraged because they are not like you. But know that you can be the creator/streamer you always wanted to see. Even with a small audience, you can still impact people’s lives and have opportunities that can change your life! Be unapologetic in your content and continue to be your own biggest fan! Remember, authenticity attracts the right audience. The more you embrace your unique voice, the more you’ll inspire others to do the same. Keep pushing forward and never underestimate the power of your passion and dedication.
