Katie Curran is already well on her way to making a difference. The Cape Cod native is pursuing her degree at the prestigious Columbia University and she’s currently an intern for United States Senator Elizabeth Warren. With the help of a $500 grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund, Katie plans on furthering her education and continuing her work with Project Next Generation, the organization she founded which inspires the next generation of global leaders.
What is your professional dream?
Serving others is integral to who I am. My professional dream is to serve as a United States Diplomat or United States Senator.
That’s so ambitious. We love it! How will you use your funding?
I will use this grant to reach my educational goals. I’m planning to either purchase a laptop or use this for graduate school preparation — my dream is to attend law school. Thank you for investing in me, 1,000 Dreams Fund!
Thank YOU! How is this helping you to get closer to that dream?
I’m going to continue to raise my voice as President and Founder of Project Next Generation. Project Next Generation provides middle school students with the resources to make a positive impact in their community. Our mission is to engage and inspire the next generation of young global leaders to effect change worldwide. This funding has opened so many doors for me. I now have many more academic opportunities thanks to the 1,000 Dreams Fund.
What advice do you have for other young women pursuing their dreams?
Never stop setting goals. All the time and energy you put into your vision will pay off. Reach for your dreams! They can be achieved.
Any setbacks? How did you get around them?
I have faced financial setbacks. I am getting around these economic challenges through the support of wonderful organizations, such as the 1,000 Dreams Fund!
What’s next for you?
I am currently serving as a legislative intern for United States Senator Elizabeth Warren. My goal is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of as many people as I can.
