Meet Katerine M. (she/her), a Colgate-Palmolive Scholar who is studying Applied Psychology at New York University.

What is your dream?

I am passionate about pursuing a career related to mental health counseling. Additionally, I aim to increase Hispanic representation in the profession by earning my master’s in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness and working in community health care centers, specifically supporting families of color as they overcome adversities.

Please share how you feel about the win and what impact it will have on your career.

As a first-generation college student, I am deeply grateful for this scholarship. It reminds me that through hard work and determination, I can accomplish great things. With this support, I am confident I can reach my full potential as a future mental health counselor and make a tangible impact in the mental health field.

What advice do you have for other women reaching for their dreams?

Always be your own biggest supporter. Pushing for diversity and equal representation is essential, as it leads to more effective solutions and better outcomes while creating opportunities for future generations. While some obstacles may seem overwhelming, do not let them hold you back; instead, use them as motivation to keep going and create a lasting impact.
