Jordis V., 19 – FUNDED

At Pittsburg State University, Jordis V. is working on her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The 1,000 Dreams Fund Scholarship winner is not only passionate about helping others, she also recognizes the reciprocal value in relying on the support of others in the pursuit of one’s dreams.

What is your professional dream?

I want to be a traveling pediatric nurse.

How will you use the 1,000 Dreams Scholarship?

It will help me pay for my certified medication aide (CMA) class and its requirements such as scrubs and textbooks.

How is this scholarship helping you get closer to your dream?

Getting my CMA certification will only get me closer to the degree and career I want as a nurse. I will continue to help people who need a caring and kind supporter.

What advice do you have for other young women who are wanting to pursue their dreams?

Always continue and never give up. There will be obstacles, but they can be conquered. Rely on friends and family who want to see your dreams come true. Your journey is a shared one with people who want to see it. Enjoy the beautiful pursuits of your dreams.

Have you had any setbacks? How did you move past them?

Yes, I have had setbacks. I moved past them by doing the best I can do and accepting whatever comes my way. I always try again if I do not succeed the first time. There is no harm in try and doing the best you can. I know I will be rewarded for it whenever it comes.

What’s next for you? What is your next goal?

I plan on getting into nursing school at Pittsburg State University. This upcoming fall is when I will apply.
