Meet Jazarah H. (she/her), a 1,000 Dreams Fund Scholarship winner who is studying architecture at Syracuse University.

What is your dream?

Since I was 13 years old and discovered my grandfather lying on the bathroom floor, wounded after a fall, I’ve made it my duty to make everyone feel at ease in their own homes. I dream of becoming an architect to design houses that take into consideration people’s needs. I am certain that attending an architectural school will provide me with a solid foundation in design and architecture.

I am extremely thankful for this scholarship; it eases a major financial burden and allows me to focus fully on my studies and professional growth, bringing me closer to achieving my career goals.

​What advice do you have for other young women who are wanting to pursue their dreams?

We, as women, belong. We are strong. My advice to other women is to pursue your passion boldly, even in fields not historically occupied by women. Express yourself without judgment or limitations set by outdated societal expectations. Whether it’s STEM, leadership, or any male-dominated profession, remember that your voice, talent, and dreams are valid and necessary.
