@Hydrotroop91, 28 – FUNDED

A self-admitted “total dork” at times, @Hydrotroop91 loves to game and share the experience with others — and talk about anything from Star Wars, to tattoos, Disney, LGBTQ, games, movies, shows, drag, new releases, science, history, and the list goes on. As a disabled veteran, this BroadcastHER winner wants to one day create a team called ThisAbledGaming to showcase amazing people doing awesome things while offering encouragement that anyone and everyone can be a gamer.

What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?

I want to bring positive light into gaming while encouraging those with disabilities to keep gaming.

How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

I will be able to attend TwitchCon for networking and learning opportunities as well as get some additional equipment for my computer.

What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?

It means the world to be able to learn at TwitchCon as well as improve my setup.

Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?

We have to keep showing up and being there.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

I have faced hate for not being as good as others because of the challenges I have with my disability. I have also experienced several instances of sexist, anti-LGBTQ hate.

What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?

Keep your chin up and never give up.

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

I surround myself with positive people and those who hold me accountable.
