Harmony D., 25 – FUNDED

Meet Harmony D. (she/her), a Colgate-Palmolive Scholar who is studying dentistry at the Howard University College of Dentistry.

What is your dream?

My career goal is to become a compassionate and skilled pediatric dentist who is focused on providing high-quality dental care while promoting oral health awareness — especially in underserved communities.

I dream to build trust with children and patients. I dream to make dentistry fun and assessable. I want to create a colorful, engaging office space using child-friendly language while offering rewards for good behavior.

The goal is to help kids not only get the care they need but to enjoy it in a way that helps prevent future fears of the dentist. My long-term dream is to create a positive impact on future generations. The dream is to shape children’s perceptions of dental care so that they carry good habits with them throughout their lives. By focusing on preventive care and fostering positive experiences, pediatric dentists can reduce the incidence of dental issues in future generations.

Please share how you feel about the win and what impact it will have on your career.

“Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” -Ephesians 5:20

This win will allow me to have financial freedom to focus on my studies while providing a boost in confidence, networking opportunities, and access to resources and mentorship. Lastly, this win will set a great example for others, especially in field where financial barriers are high.

In short, any scholarship can provide the tools, resources, and confidence to not only succeed academically but to lay a solid foundation for a thriving and impactful career.
