Hannah I., 18 – FUNDED


Hannah I. dreams of becoming a nurse midwife to assist underserved communities in their birthing process. And, the 1,000 Dreams Fund Scholarship recipient is on her way, with plans to attend Georgia State University Honors College as a pre-nursing major.
What is your professional dream?
I hope to become a nurse midwife and have my own birthing clinic.
How will you use the 1,000 Dreams Scholarship?
I will use this scholarship to fund my undergraduate education. Scholarship money will be allocated towards books, tuition, and other school-related expenses.
How is this scholarship helping you get closer to your dream?
This scholarship definitely makes attending college more financially attainable and realistic. Now, I can afford to buy certain books to succeed in my classes. I am extremely thankful!
What advice do you have for other young women who are wanting to pursue their dreams?
Do not let anything hold you back! Write down your goals and chase them. By following your dreams, you are inspiring others to do the same.
Have you had any setbacks? How did you move past them?
Yes, I have grown up in a single-parent household and I have watched my parent struggle to meet our financial needs. I use this as an opportunity to strive for better in life — and to inspire my siblings to do the same.
What’s next for you? What is your next goal?
Next up is college, and then graduating with my bachelor’s degree in nursing. From there, I will obtain my master’s in nursing.
