@Evensya, 30 – Funded

If you’re curious how to pronounce Evensya‘s name, it’s Even (like Stevens) and Sia (like the singer! This JBL Quantum Grant winner (she/her) is a “horror variety streamer who will help you through the Zombie Apocalypse.” She also loves to body paint and cosplay on the side.

What is your dream in gaming and/or esports?

I would love to create a space for femme horror lovers out there. I feel like there should be more of us in the forefront of horror games.

How will this award from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

With this award, I’ll be able to add equipment for streaming and also gift horror games to some of my viewers to further their interest in the genre.

What does being a 1,000 Dreams Fund – JBL Quantum Grant recipient mean to you?

Being a JBL Quantum Grant recipient means someone believes in what I can bring to the gaming industry and that lights a fire under me.

Women are underrepresented in gaming and esports. What can we do to change this?

I think it all starts with gaming companies reaching out to more women gamers.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

A major challenge I have faced is not being taken seriously by other gamers because of the games I tend to play. Someone should be able to play The Sims or Fortnite or Baldur’s Gate, and still be considered a gamer.

What advice do you have for women who want to work in the gaming or esports industry?

I would say take that leap because we definitely belong here. We bring a spark into this male-dominated industry and every day I am seeing more of us. It’s inspiring.

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

I honestly learn to take a step back when I feel like I am losing my focus. I’ll usually spend those times doing something I really enjoy — like painting —and then I’ll regain a little spark of inspiration.
