Meet Elena J. (she/her), a New Face of Tech winner who is studying computer science and art at Tufts University.

What is your dream?

My dream is to create a place where we truly belong in tech, to one day retire my parents, and to travel together as we work toward making the world more equitable through technology.

Please share how you feel about the win and what impact it will have on your career.

This award is life-changing for me as attending conferences changed my life. As the Conference Chair for the WE25 conference of my college, the first time I stepped into that room I was able to get access to unparalleled opportunities to interview for the biggest companies in the world.

With this scholarship, I can keep creating projects that make the world a better place by attending hackathons around the world. As a computer science and art student, this recognition gives me the momentum and resources to give back by becoming a resource for others in my community.

What advice do you have for other women reaching for their dreams?

Go for it! Even when you don’t feel ready, don’t let other people’s doubts become your limits. Stay rooted in your own goals, seek out a supportive community, and trust that consistency and courage will take you where you want to go.
