Chloe – FUNDED

Chloe Garfias wants to study social work and to get involved with families and children in need. A junior with aspirations to attend the University of Texas at Austin, she is one of our Houston Girls on the Rise. She hopes to provide support and guidance to make a lasting impact on people.

Do you know what you’d like to major in or have a career in?  If so, what is it?

Social work. I would like to have a career in human service related fields.

What does it mean to you to be selected as a Girl on the Rise?

It means a lot and I am appreciative to be awarded a scholarship to help assist with college expenses, since I know how expensive it can be.”

What inspired you to want to be involved with Girls on the Rise?

I want to get a scholarship that will help support me into staying motivated in high school to obtain a higher education in social work.

How will funding from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals? In other words: Why is the opportunity to visit your prospective colleges important to your journey?

1,000 Dreams Fund will help me financially support my visits to schools of my choice and to help me pay fees and expenses when I apply for college.

What schools will you use the funding to visit, and why?

University of Texas at Austin. Although I know it is competitive and hard to get into, I know that it has a really strong social work program.
