Meet Celisa M. (she/her), a 1DF Scholarship winner who is pursuing Finance at Howard University.
What is your dream?
My dream is to build a life defined by purpose, leadership, and impact—a journey that starts with becoming a sharp, confident finance professional and grows into my long‑term goal of serving as a Chief Financial Officer, where I can shape strategy, create stability, and open doors for others.
I want to use my success to pour back into my community by starting a nonprofit that teaches Black women and children about financial literacy, giving them the knowledge and confidence to build the futures they deserve.
Whether I’m leading in a boardroom or teaching in a classroom, my dream is to uplift, educate, and create generational change through both my career and my commitment to service.

What advice do you have for others reaching for their dreams?
My advice for other women reaching for their dreams is to persevere even when times get hard. I know there were many moments when I wanted to give up and settle for the easier option. But the constant reminder that I am not just doing this for myself, but so that one day I can inspire others, is what keeps me going.

My name is Celise M. I am an 18‑year‑old girl from Atlanta, Georgia, who prides herself on being a leader driven by inclusivity and equity. I am ecstatic to be a recipient of this 1,000 Dreams Fund Scholarship. Being awarded this scholarship is a reminder that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to, and it has brought me one step closer to attending college debt‑free. I will use this funding to contribute toward my remaining cost of attendance at my dream school, Howard University.
