Camila S., 17 – Funded
Something that Camila S. is passionate about is helping businesses succeed. It’s why this Girl on the Rise is interested in studying marketing, after she graduates from San Bernardino High School in 2024.
What is something you are most proud of?
I am proud of being a girl who is ambitious and always pushes forward to complete her dreams.
Have you gone through any tough or challenging times? If yes, how did you deal with those challenges?
Yes, I have and I have managed them by trying my hardest to not let it affect my personality. I try to see outside the problem and what other solutions I could bring to the table. I also keep interacting with friends to distract me, too, and improve my feelings.
What does it mean to you to be selected as a Girl on the Rise?
I am very proud of myself. This group can help establish more firm ground for me. It means a lot to me to be picked.
What inspired you to want to be involved with Girls on the Rise?
What inspired me is knowing that this program can help me understand that girl power is stronger when we stick together. Let the girl voices be heard!
How will funding from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals? In other words: Why is the opportunity to visit your prospective colleges important to your journey?
The ability to use the money to see prospective colleges will have an impact on where I want to study. I’ll be able to compare colleges, their clubs, and the opportunities they give to students. This will help me pick out the college that’s right for me out of the many colleges that are out there.
What schools will you use the funding to visit, and why?
I would like to use the funding to visit Fullerton College to see the campus and learn more about it.
