For Maria Vitória Campana (@Buzzyi on Twitch), it’s all about the love of the game. She has been playing since she was 6 as a young girl in Brazil. However, in addition to pursuing her passion for streaming, this BroadcastHER Grant recipient is also studying law at UNIVEL in Cascavel – Paraná. She knows firsthand that women are not recognized for their skill — not in gaming and not in other industries, as well — and she wants to fight in the name of all the girls across the world and create a brave community.

What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?

My dream is to reach every kind of person and make them happy because they make me happy and encourage me to do what I really want to do in my life.

How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?

It is allowing me the chance to do what I love and giving me hope to keep going even with money difficulties. It is very expensive having everything on point and every little thing to play games — and that doesn’t even include the streaming aspect.

What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?

Literally everything. It’s not just about being the recipient but also the chance to show everybody that WE CAN DO IT and stay strong. We can easily give hope to other girls who play and who don’t have the ability to travel for a special event or even to buy new games or hardware.

Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?

We need to be even more united and protect each other. We can also extend our hands and help no matter what just by being real friends.

What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?

The people who haven’t believed in me and who have tried to make everything bad for me because I’m a woman; this is what has been difficult. And, also the time and money constraints, of course.

What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?

Don’t stop; keep looking for your dreams. It’s not easy and we all know that, but you can do it no matter what. You may have a lot of haters and people who want to hurt you, but then you need to remember that you also have people who want you to be happy and living your dream.

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

I just focus on the positive things about me — and also on the good people who help me and who are on my side protecting and helping me. I also avoid toxic people who just want to make me sad.
