What is your dream in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?

My dream is to enter the world of esports business development and event management for large-scale tournaments with companies such as ESL, PGL, MLG, and more. I want to work to bring players and teams in while organizing tournaments and sponsors to put on multimillion-dollar esports events in the U.S. and — maybe if I’m lucky — across the world.

Please share how winning support from 1,000 Dreams Fund is important to your dream and what impact it will have on your career?

This has changed the course of my future in a way I cannot truly express in its entirety. At 35, I thought I was too old to pursue this after finding a passion in the world of esports. But being a part of this is going to enable me to bridge the gap and learn from industry professionals directly in the field.

Getting hands-on experience with professionals is a dream come true, especially in such a prolific event as Games Week Georgia. This experience is going to give me the resources and connections I need to enter the industry more prepared than before, including the experience of what it’s like to be a part of the high-energy environments on show day.

I have yet to meet a Latina working in business development and esports management for tournament organizations or even on esports teams — and, for me, this gives me a chance to be one of the first and set the pace for many Latinas in gaming and esports in the future.

What advice do you have for women & femmes who want to work in gaming, esports, and/or content creation?

Take up space!

I’ve learned that, much of the time, there is never a seat at the table for us — nor are the environments we go into the most open, as there’s a level of expectation for experiences we have yet to have.

If there is something you want to do, something you are passionate about, something that you feel in your bones can change the world around you, make the space you belong in.
