Do you know what you’d like to major in or have a career in? If so, what is it?
I would like to be a pediatric nurse. I’ve always loved to be around children especially babies.
What is something you are most proud of?
I am most proud of the woman I am becoming, I have grown tremendously and I can honestly say that it’s been one heck of a battle.
Have you gone through any tough or challenging times and how did you deal with those times?
There have been challenging times in my life where I have had to step back and look at what I was in, I couldn’t run I couldn’t hide, I had to learn to deal with the problems I faced, and if I had to name one it would be with who I am. I didn’t like who I was becoming I didn’t like the mindset I had on life and that’s where my big sister stepped in and she helped change that, she gave me confidence and trust.
What does it mean to you to be selected as a Girl on the Rise?
It’s an opportunity for me to visit colleges I never thought I would visit, to be apart of girls on the rise is a blessing because if I wasn’t apart of this I don’t think I really would have had the chance to go to college.
What inspired you to want to be involved with Girls on the Rise?
It was something that would give me connections. I feel grateful to be apart of girls on the rise.
How will funding from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals? In other words: Why is the opportunity to visit your prospective colleges important to your journey?
The opportunity to visit my prospective colleges is important to my journey because I’ll have the option to choose which college I want to continue my studies.
What schools will you use the funding to visit, and why?
Ohio State University, University of Missouri, Wichita State University. I think that going into my junior year I will be able to expand my list of options for colleges.
