A senior at Thurgood Marshall Academic High School in San Francisco, Audrey B. is already thinking about her future career. This Girl on the Rise’s dream is to be a clinical laboratory scientist, but she’s excited about the next step to get there: studying biology or biological science at college.

What is something you are most proud of?

I’m most proud of my grades and academic successes.

What does it mean to you to be selected as a Girl on the Rise?

This means a lot to me because it is giving me the opportunity to go to college.

What inspired you to want to be involved with Girls on the Rise?

It inspires me to participate in more extracurriculars and community service programs for my college applications. This will help me connect with my community and the girls around me for beneficial outcomes.

How will funding from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals? In other words: Why is the opportunity to visit your prospective colleges important to your journey?

This will help me reach my goal of becoming a clinical laboratory scientist by allowing me to pursue my dream career in science.

What schools will you use the funding to visit, and why?

I would like to visit Texas Southern University.
