@ari_fairy, 23 – FUNDED
When she’s not streaming, @ari_fairy goes to art school for graphic design. The BroadcastHER Grant winner wants to use her platform to uplift marginalized creators while educating her audience on things that are important to her.
What is your dream as a digital broadcaster?
My dream is to create a diverse community that makes people feel safe and welcome.
How will the BroadcastHER Grant from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals?
I’m currently unemployed so this grant will help me to upgrade my equipment to better my streams and also invest in some educational opportunities.
What does being the recipient of the BroadcastHER Grant mean to you?
It’s an honor to be chosen among such incredible women and it feels very validating and motivating to have my work recognized.
Women are underrepresented in gaming, broadcasting, and e-sports. What can we do to change this?
We need to uplift each other and create spaces where women can connect with each other and feel safe.
What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?
I started streaming during a year full of tragedy and mental health issues, and it was definitely hard to not let things like numbers make things even worse. As a streamer, you have to learn to be critical of yourself in order to improve but still forgiving of yourself when you’re not perfect.
What advice do you have for women who want to start broadcasting?
Take up space unapologetically. You are valuable to the community and you belong here. Look at your content with a critical eye, use any resources you can find to improve, and don’t give up!
How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?
I try to focus on all of the good that has come from this journey and all of the possibilities ahead of me. The community I’ve built is amazing and they help me stay on track. I also try to set small, realistic goals so that I can stay focused on my successes.
