Anna, 20 – FUNDED

Anna S. is one of our 1,000 Dreams Fund Scholarship 2020 winners. This Georgetown University undergraduate student is charting her course to law school — but, she’ll be the first to admit that one of the best things anyone can do is be open to new opportunities, not a prescribed plan or path that others (or society) sets.
What is your professional dream?
I want to become a lawyer.
How will you use the 1,000 Dreams Scholarship?
I’ll use this scholarship to help pay for the grad school application process and LSAT/GRE registration.
How is this scholarship helping you get closer to your dream?
This scholarship allows me to finish undergrad without having to choose between conferences, grad applications, and other programs.
What advice do you have for other young women who are wanting to pursue their dreams?
I think far and away the best thing you can do is be open to opportunities and not limit yourself. Our society is so focused on following the “right” path but, often, there’s a lot of meaningful life experiences to be found outside of that.
What’s next for you? What is your next goal?
After graduation, I’m hoping to do a joint J.D. program with Security Studies or Ethics. I’m hoping to work in corporate law for a few years and later transition to working with the federal government or in legal academia.
