Meet Angelease B. (she/her), a Colgate-Palmolive Scholar who is working on her Master of Public Health (Maternal and Child Health Concentrator) degree at Brown University.

What is your dream?

My dream is to become a pediatrician with an MPH who not only contributes to the innovation and integrity of health systems but also expands access and representation for underserved populations. I am passionate about improving access to quality healthcare, specifically in the areas of maternal and child health. I believe it is my purpose to contribute to the field of medicine by helping those in underserved communities.

In addition, I hope to make a meaningful impact in the maternal health space, understanding that maternal well-being is foundational to child health outcomes. By integrating pediatrics, public health, and maternal health, I aim to contribute to more equitable and sustainable health systems for families and communities.

I am deeply honored to be a recipient of the Colgate-Palmolive Scholarship. This award not only reflects belief in my potential, but it also alleviates financial barriers, allowing me to more fully pursue my journey toward medicine. Receiving this support motivates me to continue working hard and reinforces my commitment to serving underserved communities through a public health lens. I am grateful for this opportunity and inspired to one day give back in the same way.

What advice do you have for other women reaching for their dreams?

Comparison is the thief of joy. Run your own race and stay grounded in your why. Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who uplift you and speak life into your dreams. Trust that if a dream was placed in your heart, you already possess the strength and ability to achieve it!
