Anelys, 17 – Funded

Anelys, a senior at Miami Springs Senior High School, isn’t exactly sure what she wants to study in college yet. But, she does have her sights set on Florida International University. It is her dream school, but she has plenty of other options she plans on exploring, too, before making her final decision. Here is what else she had to say.

What is something you are most proud of?

I am proud of passing my Florida Standard Assessments (FSA) test.

Have you gone through any tough or challenging times? If yes, how did you deal with those challenges?

One of the many of the many challenges I have accomplished is passing my FSA. I was on that journey for four years, I also recently passed my graduation requirement by taking my SAT. The way I dealt with the situation was to study hard and make tips and clues for myself.

What does it mean to you to be selected as a Girl on the Rise?

It means that people actually see potential in me and believe that I can succeed and improve.

What inspired you to want to be involved with Girls on the Rise?

My mentor thought it would be an outstanding opportunity for me.

How will funding from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals? In other words: Why is the opportunity to visit your prospective colleges important to your journey?

It will help me decide what college/university I will be attending after high school.

What schools will you use the funding to visit, and why?

University of Florida, Syracuse, FSU, FAMU, and NYU. The reason I want to visit these schools is because they have amazing accounting programs.
