My dream is to become a renowned entrepreneur and content creator who uses technology, business, and storytelling to create meaningful opportunities for others. I hope to begin my career at a leading technology company, where I can strengthen my skills as a data scientist, gain valuable industry experience, and learn how successful products and organizations are built. I then plan to use that knowledge to grow impactful businesses of my own.

Beyond my personal success, I want to empower the next generation—especially young women and people from underrepresented communities—to believe in themselves and pursue ambitious goals. I want them to know that their background does not limit what they can achieve.

After being denied last year, receiving this scholarship means so much to me. It reminds me that rejection is part of the journey, but what matters most is having the courage to try again. As the saying goes, “A rejection is not the end of the road; it is simply a redirection.” This award brings me one step closer to attending a professional conference, expanding my network, and gaining my first internship or work experience in the technology industry.

My advice to other women is to never underestimate yourself or allow fear and rejection to make you believe that your dreams are too big. Believe that you are capable, dream boldly, and keep taking steps toward the life you want. The journey may take longer than expected, and there may be setbacks along the way, but that does not mean your dream will not happen. Trust God, remain consistent, learn from every experience, and never give up on yourself. You are worthy of every opportunity you are working toward.

My name is Akua O., and I am a computer science student with dreams of becoming a renowned entrepreneur, content creator, and data scientist. I am honored to have been selected as a recipient of the 1,000 Dreams Scholarship Fund and to receive a $1,000 award for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Being chosen means so much to me, especially because I applied last year and was not selected. Receiving the award this year reminded me that rejection is not the end of the journey and that persistence can open doors. Seeing the congratulatory email truly made my day and encouraged me to continue believing in myself and pursuing my goals.

I plan to use this award to help cover the cost of attending a professional technology conference, where I can expand my knowledge, connect with professionals, and discover internship and career opportunities.
